Getting a pet is not as easy as it may seem; it is like having a newborn baby, one that would never grow old to be helping you out with life, rather one that would need constant care and love throughout their lives, but you love them unconditionally. Just like you get a photoshoot for the newborn baby, in the modern era, one has to get a portrait with their pets. It is the trend that people throughout the world are following, and they enjoy and cherish the time while they are in the middle of a photo shoot, and the pets are acting out in that manner.

There are several tips that we are sharing in this blog so that we can make it a whole lot easier for the people to be able to take portraits with their pets without them being on the run at all times. 1- Prefer natural lighting

To make sure that the pet is calm and content while the professional is making a portrait, one should avoid any flash instead try and get natural light as it gives a perfect look. If they use flash, they can come as a shock to the pet, and it might lose control and freak out at that time too. Not only that, but with the flashlight, there are more chances for red-eye in the portrait; that is what you do not want to happen, given you are putting a lot of time, energy, and effort into this whole process of the portrait.

2- Know the pet

That is something that only the owner can do; you have to know the pet; what will make it turn away, or sit down? What will cause the cat to make a funny face? If you want any of those emotions caught on the camera, the main idea is to bring it out. It will increase the chances of the possibility of capturing the portraits that reveal the true beauty that your pet is.

3- Take him by surprise

There are chances that your pet does not hold still, and in such cases, it is better that you work on the trick that is surprising him. Let the pet play at the exact location that you want the portrait in and then get someone to call for the pet, this will take him by surprise, and you will have some seconds when you can make the portrait, sure of the fact that the pet is in a good posture.

4- Make the schedule according to your pet

If you want your pet to stay still and not move as much, make sure that you go for the portrait when the pet has just woken up. That way, you would not have to worry about him being energetic during the picture. However, if your pet is not well, try and schedule the portrait idea to a later date to make sure that you get a fresh look in the portrait.

5- Do not be impatient

If you are up for getting a portrait with your pet, you have to be patient. At the same time, it is a fact that an animal would only be calm and controlled if his owner shows the same qualities. Being impatient would ruin your mood, along with the spirit of your pet. It would be a waste of time for you and everyone else involved in the process.

6- Try to capture your relationship with the pet

Pets tend to feel more comfortable in scenarios that do not look fake; a picture in the garden of the house where the owner is running away from the cat while it chases him is a unique and a real picture. In that portrait, the pet cat does not have to go out of her routine poses and make anyone happy, rather be natural with her owner.

7- Use toys to distract the pet

One of the most common tricks to distract the pets when they are acting out is by showing them their favorite toys. They tend to follow the toy’s movement and can result in a great picture. The person on the other side has to be ready with the camera and focus on the moves on the pet only. The squeaky toys are not only for the pets to play but for the fantastic portraits too.
